Our Journey Fabrication artisanale de lunettes OCENEO

Our Journey

It was during a surf session on the Australian east coast in 2018 that Marco became aware of the lack of means to recycle neoprene wetsuits.

After just one session, his wetsuit ripped. In the shop, he was told it wouldn't be repaired, but thrown away. He was stunned.

He then decided to find an alternative to valorize the tens of tons of wetsuits thrown away and burned each year, including his own. It was at that moment that OCENEO was born.

Our Values

The OCENEO Pillars

Three core beliefs guide each pair: OCENEO's purpose, neoprene upcycling, and end-to-end circularity. Click on a card to learn more.

OCEANEO
Circularity
I didn't invent anything. I simply drew inspiration from best practices, then I tried, again and again, for years. What I'm good at is never giving up.

— Marco, founder of OCENEO

2018

The idea is born in the water

I work at a research center in Australia. One day, I go surfing and my wetsuit rips.

The salesperson explains that it will end up in the trash: there are almost no recycling solutions. I discover that the situation is the same in France and Europe.

The idea for OCENEO begins to sprout.

2019–22

The Garage and Prototypes

I lock myself in my father-in-law's garage. Hundreds of tests and prototypes follow one after another. Covid severely slows down the project.

After several years of research, I finally obtain my first solid plate, made from recycled wetsuits.

2022

Formation of SAS OCENEO

Official creation of OCENEO SAS and relocation to Marcheprime.

Material volumes are increasing, the project is entering a much more professional phase.

End of 2022

Initial eyewear discussions

Initial contacts with opticians and eyewear manufacturers. The proposed solutions were not suitable: too expensive, not adapted to my vision of the product.

I decided to invest in my own machines.

2023

My own machines

I bought a CNC machine and self-taught myself how to use it. I was doing this while also working at Basic Fit, which meant my days started at 6 a.m.

I quickly realized that this pace was unsustainable in the long run.

2023–24

Heading for Gujan-Mestras

New move, setting up in Gujan-Mestras. Orders are increasing, but the financial situation remains very complicated.

2024

TF1 & Quiksilver

Communication around the project begins. TF1 discovers OCENEO and Quiksilver makes contact.

These opportunities give a real boost to the company.

2025

Ferris Neo & NEOPOP

Production of the Ferris Neo model for Quiksilver and industrial ramp-up.

Development of the first compression products and the birth of the NEOPOP project.

2026

A new dimension

Quiksilver orders continue; Decathlon and other major companies are making contact. Sales are growing, but the website is showing its limitations.

A new move is being prepared, along with a complete website redesign and new models developed with Quiksilver and other brands. OCENEO is entering a much more structured phase.
