OCENEO: giving neoprene a second lifeFor our part, OCENEO chose to take on a new challenge: recycling neoprene wetsuits destined for the bin and turning them into design sunglasses. Every pair is handmade in France from locally collected wetsuits. The shades and colours of the material vary depending on the wetsuits recycled, which makes every pair unique. Our ambition is to reduce the environmental impact of surfing and diving by giving new value to a material that is hardly ever recycled (see our neoprene upcycling approach). Since we started, we have already recycled three tonnes of wetsuits, including 2.3 tonnes in 2024 alone. By working with ESATs (sheltered workshops for people with disabilities) and local craftspeople, we ensure short supply chains and the use of durable materials. Around 400 tonnes of neoprene are thrown away every year in France: by turning to OCENEO, you help shrink that mountain of waste. |
