Recycled sunglasses are increasingly popular: they combine style, protection and respect for the ocean. But how do you choose well? Here is our guide.
Why choose recycled sunglasses?
Every year, tonnes of neoprene wetsuits end up in landfill or incinerators. Choosing recycled sunglasses means diverting that waste from the bin and reducing demand for new petroleum-based plastic. A concrete gesture for the planet, without giving up on style.
How are our recycled neoprene sunglasses made?
At OCENEO, we collect end-of-life surf, diving and kite wetsuits. They are sorted, ground into a fine powder, then bound with a bio-based resin and moulded by hand in our workshop in Arcachon. The result: a unique frame whose shades are never quite identical.
The 5 things to check before buying
- Protection: insist on UV400, category 3 lenses that block 100% of UV rays.
- The material: favour a genuinely recycled, traceable material such as wetsuit neoprene.
- Lens quality: our Divel bionylon lenses are bio-based and deliver crisp vision.
- Origin: French manufacturing guarantees quality and short supply chains.
- Uniqueness: a truly recycled pair carries the shades of its original material.
Which OCENEO model to choose?
Three models, all in recycled neoprene: the Hossegor (versatile), the Biarritz (elegant) and the Lacanau (rugged, outdoor).
